Renault to Bring Duster Back: Threat to Existing Giants

The Duster is making a comeback and it’s built to shake up the SUV segment. Renault has reimagined the 2025 model with a tougher design, smarter interiors and hybrid powertrains that promise both performance and efficiency. The SUV now features a bold grille, LED DRLs, squared arches and functional roof rails that highlight its off-road DNA. Inside, it packs a 10.1 inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7 inch digital cluster, ambient lighting and wireless charging. Under the hood, there is a 1.2L mild hybrid and a 1.6L strong hybrid delivering up to 17 km per litre. The 4×4 variant brings terrain modes for snow, mud and sand along with solid ground clearance and hill descent control. Safety is also covered with six airbags and key ADAS features like lane keep assist and emergency braking.

Renault is expected to launch the Duster in India by mid 2026 with prices likely starting around ₹10 lakh. That puts it right in the ring with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Grand Vitara. But unlike most rivals, the Duster brings true off-road capability, hybrid options and a rugged appeal that’s hard to miss. Renault is also working on India specific updates like suspension tuning for rough roads and future seven seater versions. While it may skip premium features like a panoramic sunroof, it nails the basics — space, safety, power and practicality. For buyers who want a solid SUV that handles both city drives and weekend escapes, the new Duster could be the game changer.
